Alternative Medicine Vs Conventional Medicine – Does Alternative Medicine Work?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

In the last 10 years I have seen several acupuncturists. They were all Chinese who studied their profession in China. All the doctors I have seen thought that conventional and alternative medicine should be combined together, and that eliminating one totally, would be harmful.

Some Alternative Medicine Works, Some Do Not.

many people wonder if it works. My answer is – it depends what treatment you are receiving and how much do you believe in it. Let me ask you this: Does antibiotics works? Does all the pharmaceutical medicine you take works? The matter of fact is that all pharmaceutical medicine MAY fix one problem and MAY also cause another. So by taking it you expose your body to new diseases. Acupuncture, Tai Ci, yoga, meditation and many other alternative methods to heal the body including simply exercise, does work. They work on different parts of the body. One thing is for sure: None of these methods will MAYBE harm your body in any way. You not exposing your self to any diseases, and the only thing you do is helping the body to heal, NATURALLY.

I had to have an operation once and then I went to see my acupuncture doctor for maintenance of my body. After all, it was not a natural process but it had to be done. Because an operation involves opening the body up, thus exposing the insides to bacteria, a patient will be given a course of antibiotics. Antibiotics is a medicine that kills a large range of bacteria in the body. In our body we always have good bacteria that IS in charge oN proper function of our immune system but in some cases we have bad bacteria that causes infection. If not treated, that infection can be deadly. I started taking my antibiotics after that operation and when I came to see my acupuncturist Dr Henry Su I asked him if I should take the antibiotics since it causes damage as well as doing good. Can acupuncture alone treat the bad bacteria in my body and cleanse it in a natural way. His answer was: “You should take your antibiotics until you finish its course but also take the herbs I am giving you. Acupuncture cannot deal with a possible internal infection, for this you need something stronger than acupuncture. There is no contradiction in this case, and we sometimes have to combine traditional and conventional medicine.

Alternative medicine is designed to work slowly on the root of a problem you may have. To properly fix a problem, heal a disease or make any good progress one has to be patient and work on it thoroughly. Thorough work takes time, thorough work also has a solid base to success. There is no quick fix, and there is no instant success. In closing, heal your body naturally over time and enjoy a good healthy life for ever.

Healthy Exercise Has Three Basic Parts

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Exercise is not just about getting your heart pounding and your body pouring sweat. It actually comes in a bundle of three. You will get the maximum results by doing all three of things instead of focusing only on one or two of them.

Good old aerobic exercise.

This is important for getting the heart going, the body warmed up, and the blood flowing. When we think of aerobics we think of fast paced classes and running on the treadmill but it doesn’t have to be like that. You can go to a fitness class or jog if that’s what you prefer but you can also go for a fast walk that’s just above comfortable for you or go for a bike ride and push it whenever you can.

Aerobic exercise is important for a number of reasons. It helps get rid of toxins by circulating the lymph, it increases oxygen supplies to the bodily tissues, it prevents cancer and heart disease, it burns that unwanted fat off, and it keeps your heart and lungs strong.

Weight bearing exercises

A lot of people, especially women, think that using weights will make them look bulky. That’s not true unless that’s what you are going for. Weights is just a way to tone up your muscles and help burn fat.

Weight or resistance training can be done using actual weights, a resistance band, or yoga. It obviously increases your muscle strength and stamina but it also promotes healthy bones, connective tissues, and joints. It helps prevent osteoporosis and arthritis, but there’s a catch.

You have to do it right to see the results of your work and so that you don’t injure yourself. Smooth and controlled movements along with keeping your breath steady. No jerking or forcing yourself into a cramp.

Stretching it all out

Stretching should be done before, during, and after exercise. When you stretch you are loosening up your tissues and those loose tissues will be less prone to injury. Joint movements are also affected by tightness which creates a less smooth movement for you when doing weight resistance.

Whenever you feel the need to you should stop and do a big stretch of whatever muscle is feeling tight. Otherwise you may pay when you are just falling asleep and a leg cramp wakes you up in agonizing pain.

Stretching makes tissues stronger, healthier, and more mobile. You should never overlook this part of your exercise routine as easy as it may be to do sometimes.

The concept of healthy eating and doing exercise regularly work best when followed together. Choose the exercise lesson that suits your body perfectly and stick to it. Similarly, select a diet regimen which goes with your body constitution to get the best results.

The secret of an amazingly fit body and mind is eating healthy food and following an exercise lesson regularly. You start it off right from the first hour of the day. Have an oat based breakfast or whole wheat bread toasts, which are extremely filling and get started with your exercise. Walking, cycling and jogging are some of the easiest workouts one can do. Moreover, these are fun activities both for children and for adults. If you are not fond of exercise, then you can either opt for some kind of sports or dance.

Healthy food does not have to be boring necessarily. You have a great assortment of healthy foods from which you can select from. Choose from among a variety of fresh fruits, whole grains, vegetables, and low fat milk products, protein and fiber rich food. Eating in between meals is not a good habit. However, if you still feel hungry, eating apple, celery sticks, skimmed milk, oat cookies, baked food stuff and any dry cereal will fill you up.

The exercise lesson can consist of lower impact aerobic workouts, swimming, jumping and cycling. You can also opt for strength training lesson, which will help in improving strength, coordination and flexibility. Half an hour of workout everyday contributes a lot towards good health. Always remember to have lots of water throughout the day. This will help you to remain hydrated and also clear your system of the toxins. The basic idea behind healthy eating and following a daily exercise lesson is to burn the calories that you are taking in everyday, thereby preventing obesity and many obesity related diseases. Thus, it is important to strike a balance between the two – intake of a balanced diet and exercising.

Medical Procedures That Can Improve Your Quality of Life

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

It used to be surgical procedures were something that was a last resort. It was used in response to a medical emergency and not something a person would look forward to undergoing. Over the last few decades, surgical procedures have been developed that are meant as a way to help people avoid more serious medical problems in the future, or to help them lead a better life right away. These elective surgeries are options for people who have something wrong with them that may not be life-threatening at the moment, but if they were to be able to correct the problem, it could lead to a much better life. For instance, if you have problems with your vision, there are surgical procedures that can correct the problem. The cost of Lasik eye surgery is reasonable so it is an option for many who have vision problems. The cost of Lasik is not always covered by insurance, but your Lasik eye cost may be worth the investment if you never need to wear glasses or worry about contact lenses ever again.

If vision problems do no affect you, there may be another health problem that causes you strife. Those who are severely overweight may want to speak with their doctors about gastric bypass. This surgical procedure allows you to make the size of your stomach smaller, helping food pass through your system. It also forces you to eat less so you are not consuming as many calories as before. There are numerous options now for this procedure, and the risks associated with the procedure is much less than it used to be. This procedure can not only help you lose weight for cosmetic reasons, it helps you lead a healthier life. Those who spend years of their lives overweight end up facing a number of health risks in the future. They are more susceptible to problems like diabetes, cancer, and heart problems. Electing to have the gastric bypass can make a big difference in the health of your future.

Even if your health issues are not as serious as vision or weight problems, there may still be a surgical procedure that can improve your life. Minor procedures include hair implants and mole removal. In some cases, mole removal may be a health problem due to skin cancer, but other times you just want to remove something you are tired of looking at. Hair implants are a minor procedure, but they can make a big difference about how you feel about your appearance. Both of these procedures are done in an outpatient manner, so you stop by for a doctor’s appointment, they help you with the procedure, and then you are on our way. Cosmetic procedures like these are paid for out of pocket, but they are often very affordable. In the long run, you may find the investment was well worth it because you will be feeling happy, healthy, and attractive once you have spent some time improving your current situation.
